Upcoming Slow Food Events

Saturday, 3/13, 10am-4pm: Maple Syrup Boil Down in Somerville. Join Groundwork Somerville at the Somerville Community Growing Center for the annual Somerville Maple Syrup Project Boil Down! Community members of all ages are invited to watch and learn as sap from local sugar maple trees is boiled down into pure maple syrup over a warm fire. Attendees can expect to enjoy syrup-tasting, music, kids’ activities, and much more! Waffles, syrup, and Somerville Maple Syrup Project T-shirts will be on sale.

Sunday, 3/14, 3:30-6:30 pm: Screening of Bullshit and Panel Discussion to Follow at Tufts' Friedman School of Nutrition in Boston. Bullshit is a documentary film from PeÅ Holmquist and Suzanne Khardalian about Vandana Shiva, who TIME Magazine calls "...a hero of our times, an icon for youngsters all over the world." Panel discussion to follow will include Jamey Lionette,Tufts professor Dr. Sheldon Krimsky, and Christie Higginbottom, garden historian at Old Sturbridge Village and heirloom produce advocate. Sunday, 3/21, 3-7pm: Greater Boston Kimchi Festival in West Roxbury. Start practicing your kimchi, so you can enter it in the kimchi contest! There will be kimchi, a kimchi contest, and a whole lot of kimchi-related activities and entertainment.

Wednesday, 3/24, 7-8:30 pm: Kombucha Demonstration and Potluck in Sargent College (Room 300), 635 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. Join Slow Food BU and the Boston Localvores for a potluck dinner and kombucha demonstration with Annabelle Ho of Kombucha Fuel.
